The Ultimate West Kootenay Adventure Checklist: 60+ Local Nelson, BC Gems
If you’ve spent any time at Butterflies in Ballgowns, you know I’m a firm believer that life is better when it’s lived colorfully. Whether I’m in my Nelson studio transforming vintage linens into my signature 'adventure-ready' dungarees or heading out to find inspiration in the mountains, I'm constantly moved by the magic of the Kootenays.
As much as I love a good thrift-store hunt, some adventures require a different kind of expertise. That’s why I’ve invited my friend and local REALTOR®, Tyson Alcock, to share his personal "adventure checklist" with us.
Tyson doesn't just know West Kootenay real estate; he knows the heartbeat of this land. From the hidden cliff-jumping spots at Grohman Narrows to the secret "Jurassic Park" drives of Meadow Creek, Tyson has spent years exploring the rugged corners of Nelson, Kaslo, Castlegar, and the Slocan Valley.
Whether you’re a local looking to spice up your weekend or you’re planning a move to the Kootenays and want to know where the "cool kids" hang out, this checklist is for you. We’re talking about more than just the classic Pulpit Rock hike; we’re diving into natural waterslides, abandoned ghost towns, and the kind of quiet campsites that stay in your dreams forever.
So, grab your hiking boots (and
your favourite pair of upcycled dungarees), and let’s dive into Tyson’s ultimate guide to exploring our scenic wonderland.
